i typed Vidyaranya (my school) and LFJC (my junior college) on google and it took me here. Here are some excerpts (and my comments in brackets). Of course, i am biased. Who isn´t?

state ranks in Intermediate and EAMCET are a way of life
life at LFJC is mostly about academics and hard work
"temple of knowledge" ( if that is what they consider knowledge they are sadly mistaken)
Each class usually has around seventy students (please compare with Vidyaranya)
The creativity extends, though only in a fleeting way, to literary and artistic areas, too. There are a few popular intra-college cultural events in the course of the year (and the rest of the time the students are forced to slog)
And after the college chose to be co-ed, there is a lot more intra-student interaction than in the earlier days! ( ha ha ha! co-ed, cojones! i was reprimanded for having spoken to the boys in the class, the p.t sir´s only job was to keep an eye on the students and always separate the boys from the girls)
the best junior college in town for all the career-oriented (exactly! not suitable for those who want a life.)

i don't agree when you say that students are forced to slog at lfjc. i don't think you completely know how things are at other colleges. compared to them, the system here is (maybe i should say 'was') a lot better.
and about the separation between boys and girls, yep totally agreed.
and sadly, it isn't anymore "the best junior college in town for all the career-oriented". it certainly was. it has lost all its glory now.
and again, i disagree when you say that it wasn't suitable for those who want a life. why do you say that?

i know who you are. you don´t agree when i say that students were forced to slog. perhaps, i haven´t expressed myself clearly. and anyway, if you decide not to study no one can stop you. but why else would teachers slap and pinch students (aged 16-18). that´s abuse.
personally i´ve those two years at lfjc were the poorest years of my life. i´ve learnt a lot more in places where i´ve had more freedom, that is, in school, at home, with close friends, when i´m myself.
i wasn´t happy those two years.
you and i could have a big debate about it. but also remember that i compare lfjc to vidyaranya and not to any other college or school. that´s probably why i´m so biased!
oh right. now i remember the scenario in your class (about the slapping and pinching). it wasn't like that in my class - maybe you and your friends were really really naughty, eh? :)
also, given the fact that you're comparing it to your school, i guess your opinion is fair enough.
and so is mine. those two years were, by far, the absolute best in my life.
makes me wonder - am i being a frog in a well? are our reference standards THAT wide apart? the worst for you happens to be the best for me? should i be ashamed that i'm being content with just the little things in life?

and -w, the universe doesn´t have only one dark side. most of it is black or grey.
i'm not sure you and i are referring to the same 'dark side'. i'm talking about a universe in which things are classified as either good or bad, and obviously there are millions of shades of grey in between - no argument there.
so essentially, there's white, there's lots of grey, and then there's black right? but when i was trying to create my blogger account with different phrases that contained 'darkside', i noticed that they were all taken. and i was utterly astonished by the fact that there are so many dark sides out there ;))
don't blame me if you don't see any relation between a near-dichotomous universe and the blogger accounts being taken - in your words . . . . . 'i'm craaaaaaaaaazy' :)

i just realized that my previous comment agrees with your earlier claim that "the universe doesn´t have only one dark side". (i realized this and wanted to post this comment sooner, but you beat me to it)
anyway, like i said, i strongly believe that the universe is SUPPOSED to have just one dark side (from what I said earlier - one white, lots of grey, and one black) but the bloggers have created way too many, which i'm not happy with :(
so, i am the crusader - i shall fight and not stop till they all get merged into one - the only one - the chosen one - the super darkside of the universe - muwahahahahahaha!!
and how can you forget? *you're craaaaaaaaaaazy* was your absolute fav punchline back then. you used it atleast 116 times a day in and out of college and i'm pretty sure you used to mutter it even in your sleep sometimes :) AND it was contagious!!

Accha, after having re-read all you guys wrote above, arn't u guys essentially saying the same thing in diff ways... i am assuming "-w" to be engg grad so i can relate to him/her. And Ashwini, being from the humanities stream, ur view may encompass a whole lot of things that engg's find moronic, hence the view points...

getting right down to business, is it THAT obvious that i'm an engineer? hmm, maybe i should start working on mysticizing myself, eh?
and about the argument the two of us have been having, both of us agree so far as the universe having multiple dark sides goes. but i claim that it shouldn't be the way it is while ashwini seems to be thinking that it's alright. this is not something worth discussing at all - it just goes to show that we've got nothing better to do :))

hi. i guess ashwini did have a not-so-good time at LFJC, but she sure made our stay there worthwhile. my experience would have been a lot different without her being around those two years.

-w : that's how i know ur an engg. For us (me, usual, engg), its either 0 or 1. But for most humanoids its ok to be on the wall.

if i could suppose, i prefer saying that there is supposed to be no dark side...but that´s impossible.
actually most people i know, including myself, are grey. some of try to move towards white but all of us dark sides.
and about recognizing eng, humanities etc. it´s sad. we seem like clones at times.
lfjc without you would have been a lot different. and without me it would have been a whole lot less controversial, less interesting!
